The taiko drum is traditionally used in celebrations and perhaps the single best known Japanese instrument in the world due to its impressive sound. In this workshop led by the founder of the Taiko group SAKURA NO KI TAIKO, Liliana Bulic, you will have the chance to become acquainted with this instrument, its culture, and its relevance. In the hands-on part of the workshop you will learn to play “Uchi”-Style (“Uchi” meaning “standing tilted”) with its characteristic rhythms and sequences of movements. No prior knowledge is required, but comfortable clothing is advised.
