Patema is the princess of a people living underground. On one of her tours through the tunnel system of her empire, she explores the mysterious, forbidden “danger zone” and falls into a deep pit. She finds herself in another world, controlled by a totalitarian regime, where everything is upside down – including the boy she meets … One of the most mind-boggling and interesting animes in recent years!
Director biography
Born in Hokkaido in 1980, Yasuhiro YOSHIURA graduated from Kyushu University’s Faculty of Design. His 2006 short film PALE COCOON won him critical acclaim. His following six-part series TIME OF EVE was awarded the Original Video Animation Prize at the Tokyo Anime Awards in 2010.
