  • A lecture in GERMAN language by Christian Chappelow, M.A.

The triple disaster of March 11, 2011 still influences the artistic and intellectual atmosphere in Japan. Within the tense context of “the time after Fukushima”, the writer, essayist, journalist and poet Yo HENMI (*1944) levies heavy accusations against the Japanese media coverage in numerous of his publications: as speakers of the contemporary society, the media play their part in supporting a failed system. In his lecture, Christian Chappelow gives insight into the decade-spanning work of Akutagawa-Award winner Yo HENMI and shows how a self-declared rebel tirelessly tries to fight against a policy of silence and concealment.
