Nippon Culture

The NIPPON CULTURE program invites you once more to experience Japan with all senses! Many workshops on various topics, from kimono to taiko drumming, from tea ceremonies to the ancient gagaku court music, Japanese archery (kyudo) or the martial art of kobudo, will give an insight into the richness of Japanese culture. Cooking workshops and workshops on manga, subtitling or Hip Hop offer the opportunity to discover new talents in you. One highlight will be the premiere of our Japanese cuisine tour through Frankfurt. The Nippon film dinner is another novelty, promising a very special cinematic experience provided by the weird musical film GOEMON ROCK 3: ZIPANG PUNK by director Hidenori INOUE.

The film program will be accompanied by talks with filmmakers, a panel discussion on censorship in the history of Japanese film, presentations on the current situation in Fukushima, on director Hirokazu KOREEDA, and on Japanese cinema of the Sixties.

The photography exhibition “Tokyo 24-70mm” by Natascha Pflaumbaum at Ausstellungsraum Eulengasse, presenting urban scenes from Tokyo, will let you take a glimpse at modern Japan. On Friday night, the three Japanese beat experts Terusha, BENTEN and Julian NAGANO will shake the Mousonturm with their unique mix of Hip Hop, R&B and Dancehall Reggae. Of course you shouldn’t miss the legendary festival party with DJane Hito!

And if you’re looking for relaxation, you will find it with a cup of Japanese tea or having a Japanese massage at Naxoshalle.

Come on a journey with us and discover the diversity of Japan!
